Loved having a sunday afternoon snooze – not something i’d done for a long time.
But the highlight was over two hours of Steve Earle in the Empire (and half an hour from his very talented young wife Alison Moorer). I love his angry songs, one of my favourite on his most recent album is his tribute to Pete Seeger on the quest for justice:
One of these days I’m gonna lay this hammer down
And I won’t have to drag this weight around
When there ain’t no hunger
And there ain’t no pain
Then I won’t have to swing this thing
One of these day I’m gonna lay this hammer down
I love it!
For fear of sounding all sentimental – I loved the way Steve and Alison looked and grinned at each other as they played together…

Embrace the emotion, Sam!
The loving tenderness is the flipside of the loving anger. It’s all good…

Hopefully we’ll get a bit of the anger and the tenderness at MJ on Thursday…
